June 27, 2025: Pineapple Day –

Around this time of year I start to get an itch. 100 days out of Autumn, 200 days away from Merry Christmas. While the rest of the world is eating popsicles, enjoying the beach or pool, I am gathering ideas for the rest of the year. Don’t get me wrong – I love a good BBQ & drone show on the 4th of July but my heart is seeking haunted houses, apple cider, and stockings hung by the fireplace with care. There is a corner of my dining room that has not seen the light of day for some time. It is the corner of mystical, magical holiday magazines. I have never met a Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas magazine, published in the last 15 years, that I probably don’t own. The holidays are just the best for me and I love the slow slide from Autumn into the New Year. Most everything I own has to do with seasons and holidays – all of them. I do not discriminate. In my piles, two of them, about three feet high each, are not just pumpkins, mums, turkeys, poinsettias, wreaths, and champagne flutes. There are several volumes on the High Holy Days, Passover, Mardi Gras, and Independence Day. There are more holiday magazines in the family room and in the living room but these are the core stacks.

These are just the Christmas years 2005 through about 2019.

There are just as many Halloween and probably more Thanksgiving.

Photos to follow as I begin the process of rounding up all the rest and the sort.

I am having a blast!
